The Foundation participates in and promotes cooperation with research and scientific centres by inviting scholars and their projects, by accepting invitations and by collaborating in the formation of qualified scholars. Some of the core experiences of research institute – the history of Vatican II, the new edition of the decrees of the councils, the edition of the diaries Roncalli, the Dictionary of religious historical knowledge of the-twentieth century – were made possible by collaborations that it has consolidated and which have also become channels for training a young generation of scholars.

Today, more scientific relations are those established with: Beijng University in order to research and exchange on the theme of the imago Dei, Tunis University, for research on Pacem in Terris, Ecole française de Rome, the Academy of Sciences in Moscow, Brown University, University of Pernanbuco, Excellenzcluster Münster, for the research on Pius XI; Thesaurus Linguae Grecæ, Irvine, California, for the research on the councils.
