In collaboration with the University of Münster, the Ecole Française de Rome and Brown University in Providence (Rhode Island), and the PRIN Group (University of Modena, Reggio Emilia, Rome La Sapienza, Rome Tor Vergata, Rome Three and Verona) the Foundation for Religious Studies John XXIII promotes coordination a series of research pertaining to the pontificate of Pope Achille Ratti (1922-1939), in particular from the materials preserved in the Vatican Secret Archives, available since 2006 for the years in question.
Early research results have been discussed at conferences in Rome (Ecole Française, 2008-2010-2011), Milan (Ambrosianeum, 2009), Münster (Wilhelm von Humboldt Universitaet, 2010) and Providence (Brown University, 2010): for all meetings the acts are already available or forthcoming.
The Foundation participates in the work with research specifically dedicated to the theme of relations between church and fascism, anti-Semitism, morals (the drafting process of the encyclical Casti Connubiii) and psychology-science-faith relations in the twenties and thirties.
