Ivana Panzeca was born in Palermo, where she graduated and obtained a PhD in medieval Islamic philosophy on Il Partaw Nāmah di S.Y. Suhrawardī: aspetti filosofici e teosofici. She previously spent periods of research at the Université Paris I Sorbonne, l’Université Paris Didérot, the Tarbiat Modares University in Teheran and the Institut Français de Recherche en Iran. Panzeca was a Research Fellow at the Universidad de Barcelona (2010-2012) and subsequently at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa in the framework of an ERC project entitled “Philosophy on the Border of Civilizations and Intellectual Endeavours: Towards a Critical Edition of the Metaphysics (Ilāhiyyāt of Kitāb al-Šifā’) of Avicenna (Ibn Sīnā)” (2014-2019). Since February 2019 she has been a researcher at the La Pira Library and Research Centre in Palermo (for FSCIRE, Fondazione per le Scienze Religiose Giovanni XXIII), where she works on manuscripts of the Arab-Persian philosophical tradition. She cooperates with the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, and is a “cultore” of History of the Arabic Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Palermo and a member of the Officina di Studi Medievali also in Palermo. Her most recent publications include Il Calamo dell’esistenza. La corrispondenza epistolare tra Ṣadr al-Dīn al-Qūnawī e Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī(published with P. Spallino, in 2018).
