VEREAD project – Contexts, Sources and Critical-Historical Methods
January – April 2026
The VEREAD (Virtual Exchange for Religious Education and Dialogue) project is inviting scholars and students to participate in the upcoming virtual exchange methodological seminar: Contexts, Sources and Critical-Historical Methods for the Research of Religion.
Lectures will be held every Wednesday from January 14th to April 15th, in three main modules: Sources and Historiographies; Christian History and Historiography – Case Studies; Christianity in the encounter with African Religion, Islam and actual issues.
This free online seminar introduces participants to the main critical-historical methods and approaches for studying religion, with particular attention to the African context and traditions such as Christianity, Islam, and African Traditional Religions. It highlights the historical connections between contexts, sources, and historiographies while providing practical tools to locate, analyze, and interpret various types of sources, while also strengthening critical thinking and the ability to place religious phenomena in an African-European comparative perspective.
Organized by FSCIRE in collaboration with Tangaza University (TU, Nairobi) and Kenyatta University (KU, Nairobi), this seminar explores the foundational tools and frameworks used in the academic study of religions.
For registration, which is charge-free: cargnelutti@fscire.it
Deadline: Monday, January 12th 2026.
