The new volume of Quaderni di storia religiosa medievale
The Gospels in Medieval Communities and Daily Life. Part 1. Written and Spoken Word
This issue, edited by Atria A. Larson (Saint Louis University), focuses on the gospels as text and on the meaning and interpretation of gospel texts and characters as demonstrated in medieval writings and manuscripts. They consider varied communities of people in monasteries, masters’ classrooms and towns who pored over gospel texts with notes and annotations, incorporated them into lectures as part of the scientia divina, prayed through them and connected ideas and images and texts in them to other scriptural, apocryphal, liturgical, and theological texts.
