The number od studies on joy and other positive emoticons in ancient Greek literature, the Greek Bible, early and Byzantine Christianity in relatively small. It gives the misleading impression that negative emoticons were more important than positive ones in antiquity.
This book aims ti fill a gap in current re search on ancient emotions and to iniate and in-depth disussion on the topico of joy, ita many undertones, its fragility, its concrete and metapgorical enemies, and its degree of legitimacy in different texts from classical Greek Literature ti Byzantine Christianity.

Anna Mambelli is a biblical scholar, researcher and assistant professor of Ancient Christian Literature at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and affiliated at FSCIRE.
Since 2021, she is co-editor of the Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint (Mohr Siebeck) and member of the editorial board of the series Septuagint and Cognate Studies (SBL).
Daniela Scialabba Ii associate professor at the Pontidfical Biblical Institute of Rome and affiliated researcher at FSCIRE.
