Course Overview

The purpose of the workshop is to provide participants with a thorough introduction to post-colonial and decolonial approaches, theories and methods in the study of religion.
It will examine the historical intersections of religion, coloniality and decoloniality, while fostering the ability to engage in healthy and meaningful dialogue on these topics across diverse cultural and contextual settings.

Key features

Modules: The workshop consists of three seminar-based sessions and three group work sessions. Each seminar session combines an introductory lecture on a specific topic and case study with a Q&A segment for participant interaction. In the following week, a group work session revisits the key inputs and questions raised in the previous seminar. Participants engage with assigned readings beforehand and, during the session, join small international breakout groups (10–15 people) led by trained facilitators to analyse and discuss the lecture materials. Each group then reconvenes in plenary to share insights and foster a collective discussion.

The deadline for registration is October 10th, 2025.
Please contact Francesco Cargnelutti at cargnelutti@fscire.it for registration.
