VEREAD workshop – Women and Religion

The VEREAD (Virtual Exchange for Religious Education and Dialogue) project is inviting scholars and students to participate in the upcoming virtual workshop Women and Religion. History, Agency and Challenges.
The workshop will take plave every Thursday from April 9th to May 14th 2026, (2.00 PM–4.30 PM CEST/3.00 PM–5.30 PM EAT) and each session will be organized in two parts. The first part will consist of short lectures presenting selected case studies; the second part will focus on discussion with participants working in groups with moderators.
The workshop examines women’s roles, experiences, and agency across major religious traditions [...] with a primary focus on the African context. It explores how women navigate, challenge, and transform religious structures, reshape theological thought, and challenge patriarchy.
Organized by FSCIRE in collaborations with Arrupe Jesuit University (AJU), Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Kenyatta University (KU), Makerere University (MAK), University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Tangaza University (TU), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), this workshop aims to explore women’s roles in advancing religious literacy and interreligious dialogue in diaspora communities, while enhancing participants’ intercultural communication and collaborative skills through virtual exchange and group discussions
