VEREAD Project – Is Religion a Colonial Construct? (2nd Edition)

The VEREAD (Virtual Exchange for Religious Education and Dialogue) project is inviting scholars and students to participate in the upcoming virtual seminar: Is Religion a Colonial Construct? An Introduction to Postcolonial and Decolonial Approaches to the Study of Religion.
Lectures will be held on:
October 16th, 23rd and 30th; November 6th and 20th; December 4th .
This free online seminar introduces participants to the main post-colonial and decolonial approaches and methods for studying religion. It highlights the historical entanglements of religion, coloniality and decoloniality, while equipping participants with practical tools to foster constructive and respectful dialogue on these topics in diverse cultural settings.
Organized by Fondazione per le Scienze Religiose (FSCIRE) in collaboration with University of Kwazulu-Natal (UKZN) – South Africa, this seminar examines post-colonial and decolonial perspectives on religion and their relevance today.
