Network for Universal Humanity, Palermo

The Network for Universal Humanity (NUH) was founded following a conference discussion on 24-25 June 2019 among scholars from different institutions that convened at La Pira Library and Research Centre. The Network’s full name SAFINAT NUH, which literally means “Noah’s Ark” in Arabic, reflects its ambition to bring diverse voices together to share the ethics of civility and mutual recognition.

The Network is composed of scholars and researchers of Islam, and aspires to expanding in order to include professionals, religious leaders and members of civil society in different countries.

Its goal is to highlight Islamic pluralism, and to draw attention to the multiple ways of respecting the Muslim faith by meeting the pressing challenges of the contemporary world, while appreciating the rich and manifold history of the Muslim tradition and heritage. It also aims to share knowledge, resources and interactive tools for dialogue, to catalyze a process of personal and collective growth, enrichment and diversity.
