RESLIENCE – Open selection: DATA STEWARD JUNIOR to support the development of a plan for the management and exploitation of research data according to FAIR principles for the RESILIENCE PPP HORIZON-CSA project No. 101079792

  The selection is open to candidates and applicants with the following qualifications:
- Master's degree/specialist degree in a subject area related to Social Sciences and Humanities. It is considered an advantage if you can demonstrate affinity with the domains relevant to the project;
- Ph.D. degree in a subject area relevant to the project.
Additional qualifications, knowledge and skills needed:
- Experience in research data management in the area of humanities and social sciences;
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English;
- Knowledge of Open Science and FAIR data principles;
- Knowledge of principles, standards, tools and best practices for data collection, data processing, data publishing and data preservation, related to the relevant disciplinary macro-field;
- At least basic knowledge of key ethical and regulatory issues guiding the collection, maintenance, publication, transfer and reuse of research data (e.g., GDPR in relation to data management, access and reuse, intellectual property rights, ethical issues in data management, etc.);
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication and training skills, teamwork, handling complex situations, and mastery of negotiation techniques;
- Knowledge/experience in competitive research programs;
- Capable of creating clear documentation and organising trainings on the topic if OS & RDM;
- Informed on or willing to learn quickly about the broader European and international context of Open Science (e.g., EOSC, CODATA) and to connect to the appropriate networks (e.g., RDA);
- Capable of working in team as well as individually with attention to deadlines and qualitative results;
- Willing to travel abroad to attend meetings and workshops.
Terms and conditions:
Collaboration contract until 31/05/2026. Salary commensurate with experience.

RESLIENCE – Open selection: PROJECT SUPPORT OFFICER to support the management of the RESILIENCE PPP HORIZON-CSA GA project No. 101079792

The selection is open to candidates and applicants with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in disciplines related to the humanities and social sciences.
The figure will be responsible for
- Ensure the day-to-day management and administration of the project;
- Organizing and convening project meetings; 
- Take minutes of the meetings;
- Manage daily correspondence;
- Draw up project reports; 
- Organize project events;
- Collect, review for consistency and submit deliverables, reports, minutes and other specific documents required to the Commission;
- Oversee the timely implementation of project tasks and delivery of expected deliverables;
- Perform additional administrative and management tasks related to the overall operation of the project as requested by the Board of Director.
Additional qualifications, knowledge and skills needed:
- Minimal knowledge of the European Commission's Funding & Tenders portal; 
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language;
- Proven ability to work with a wide range of internal and external project partners and stakeholders;
- Organization, motivation and proactivity.
Terms and conditions:
Collaborative contract until 5/31/2026. Salary commensurate with experience.

​Islamic History, Doctrines and Sources (PaOP)

​Palermo Occasional Papers – Islamic History, Doctrines and Sources (PaOP) is a multidisciplinary and international journal that plans to contribute to scientific research on Islamic history, doctrines, hermeneutics, literatures, languages, relations, institutions, perception and cultures.
With its international editorial board and a standard selection process (double-blind peer review), the journal welcomes unpublished papers and invites submissions from researchers in all Islamic traditions working on Oriental languages and manuscripts. In addition to first-hand research articles, PaOP also accepts notes, documents and book reviews. It is published mainly in English.

2023 Call for Research Fellowships

FSCIRE invites applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships for its Bologna centre.
Fellowships are established in accordance with requirements defined by the policy of FSCIRE, its agreements with the Italian Ministry of University and Research and its donors.
Candidates may there by apply for the following position:
• Junior Research Fellow (2 years, renewable).
Applicants must have obtained their doctorate within the last five years. The successful candidate will sign a research contract for two years, equivalent to the Italian “Assegno di ricerca junior” (which amounts to a monthly net sum of about €1,700). The contract defines a research programme in accordance with the research lines of FSCIRE.
We invite applications from all over the globe, provided that the applicant fluently speaks English.

Unconventionally “Mendicant”
Genesis and Phenomenology of a Name
and a Reality between XIII and XIV Century

The Qsrm issue dedicated to the Unconventionally “Mendicant” will be number 2, 2024. Due to the large number of proposals received, it will also be possible to extend the issue to 1, 2025.
In order for them to be subjected to revision, essays submission must be made by October 2023 (a potential second issue would foresee submission by February 2024).
The deadline for the admission of proposals to the project is on the June 30, 2022.
A proposal title with a brief research abstract must be submitted to the editorial team (Maria Teresa Dolso and Andrea Tilatti) by this date.
Other than Italian, the essays may be written in English, French or Spanish.
As a guideline, the essays (in the absence of other requirements) should be 60,000 characters (spaces and footnotes included) following the editorial norms of Qsrm, which will be sent to all participants.
It will be possible to provide illustrations, pull-outs and graphics, in agreement with the editors. The editors will be available for further clarification.

International Qur’anic Studies Association 2022, annual meeting

This year, the International Qur’anic Studies Association’s annual meeting will be hosted in Palermo by the La Pira Library from the 5th to the 7th of September, 2022. Proposals for presentations should be submitted to iqsa@fscire.it by March 7, 2022. The 2022 annual meeting welcomes presentations on any topic encompassed by the range of interests of the Qur’anic text.
