Guest Lectures – JewChriS Master Programme

On Saturday 21 February 2026 the Fondazione per le scienze religiose will host the first Guest Lecture of the Master JewChris, the advanced programme that explores the historical formation of Jewish and Christian scriptures and the diversity of their exegetical traditions across centuries.

The opening lecture will be delivered by Willem Smelik (University College London/Universität Potsdam) with his contribution Early Jewish Concepts of Translation, which will take place in via S. Vitale 114 (Bologna) and online via Zoom from 3 pm to 4.30 pm (CET).

The Guest Lecture Series of the JewChriS Master Programme, directed by Edmondo Lupieri (Loyola University Chicago) and Laura Bigoni (Universität Freiburg), runs from 21 February to 19 June 2026 and brings together international scholars presenting case studies on exegesis, translation, textual transmission, and the editorial history of ancient manuscripts such as the Nag Hammadi Codices, the Great Isaiah Scroll (1QIsaa), and the Greek Psalter.

This cycle will feature contribution Andrea Annese and Daniele Tripaldi (Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna), Marcello Fidanzio (Università della Svizzera Italiana), Felix Albrecht (Niedersächsische Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen), Sebastian Richter (Freie Universität Berlin), Arianna Rotondo (University of Catania), and Miguel H. Diaz (Loyola University Chicago). 

The conference series is free and open to all.
