IQSA International Conference 2025

15 novembre 2025 | Los Angeles, CA

On 15 November 2025, the Fondazione per le scienze religiose (FSCIRE) will take part in the International Qur'anic Studies Association (IQSA) Workshop, held at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with the panel Q. 12 Revisited: Hermeneutics, History, and Computation  in the Story of Joseph, which presents a research framework that combines philological tradition and technological innovation, opening new perspectives in the study of the Qur’an and its reception.

The panel is focused on a re-examination of Sūrat Yūsuf (Q. 12) through perspectives that combine hermeneutics, translation history, and computational approaches.
The papers explore Italian translations of the Qur’an from the pre-unification period to the contemporary age, while also examining the potential of artificial intelligence for linguistic and lexical analysis of the sacred text.
Alongside historical and linguistic investigations, the panel addresses the exegetical interpretation of key terms in the Sūra and the use of language models for the study of classical tafsīr texts.
