L'enigma del male
June 16-17, 2025 | Bologna, via S. Vitale, 114
On Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Fondazione per le scienze religiose will host two sessions on ancient Jewish literature, as part of a seminar series titled L’enigma del male (The enigma of the Evil).
Comprising three meetings, the seminar series begins on Sunday, June 15, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Oratory of Santa Maria delle Grazie, located at Via Castel Oliveto 47.
On this occasion, there will be a discussion on how, in ancient Jewish traditions, historical catastrophes are interpreted in two different ways: as divine punishment for sins or as a consequence of rebellion against the divine order.
On Monday, June 16, Israel Knohl, historian and professor of Biblical Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, will speak at FSCIRE on the theme of evil in the biblical Pentateuch.
On Tuesday, June 17, Gabriele Boccaccini, scholar of Second Temple Judaism and early Christianity and professor at the University of Michigan, will present on the theme of evil in the Enochic Pentateuch.
Access to the seminar is free.
It will also be possible to attend the FSCIRE sessions remotely, via webinar on Zoom.
