Religion at the Greenhouse – RESILIENCE closing event
11 May, 2026 | Serre Giardini Margherita | Bologna, via Castiglione 134
On Monday 11 May 2026, Bologna will host Religion at the Greenhouse. Exploring the Dynamics and Growth of RESILIENCE, the closing event of the RESILIENCE project dedicated to the role of research infrastructures in the field of religious studies.
RESILIENCE is a European cross-disciplinary research infrastructure connecting research centres, archives, libraries and digital expertise distributed across the continent, placing them at the service of scholars of religion across all academic fields.
Having entered the ESFRI Roadmap 2021, it has now completed its preparatory phase, funded by the European Commission.
The event will take place at the Serre dei Giardini Margherita, in via Castiglione 134, starting at 9.30 am; proceedings will conclude with closing remarks at 6.30 pm, followed by dinner at 7.00 pm.
The event brings together representatives of European and national institutions, universities, research infrastructures, academic communities and technological partners, with the aim of taking stock of the results achieved by RESILIENCE and reflecting on its future development.
The themes at the centre of the day are: the contribution of research infrastructures to informed public policy-making; the development of digital services in support of the scholarly community; and the social and cultural impact of humanities research in an era marked by polarisation and disinformation.
Attendance is open to all, upon registration via form until Tuesday May 5th, 2026.
The morning will open with the keynote lecture by Prof. Alberto Melloni (FSCIRE/University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), Scholarship on Religious Experiences in the Age of Hate, followed by a roundtable on research infrastructures, public policy and knowledge of religions, with the participation of experts from a range of disciplinary and institutional backgrounds, spanning humanities research, high-performance computing and digital innovation.
The afternoon will be structured around thematic panels exploring the scientific and social impact of RESILIENCE, research communities, the relationship between the evolution of research and information management, and the development of new ideas and tools.
